The effect? Of coz resulting in a one win and one lose scenario. The Indons never care. Why? Here's why:
The wind's blowing to the north east direction, that's why! How clean the air is in Sumatera (the mother-Foggers) compared to the Peninsula Malaysia (the sufferer).
For few days, Malaysians living in the CBD, the Kuala Lumpur, have to bear with the "end of days", "the armageddon", "war of the worlds" situation. We could hardly breath and our eyes are soaring, and we are forced by ownself to stay indoors, cancelling much plans for the week to prevent from causing ourselves inhaling carbon and dusts floating in the air. In the middle of the day, the throat would be full of dusts and small particles that we breath from the natural air, I just feel how important and high value the clean and natural air is. If you wonder how it looks like in Kuala Lumpur, the main city of neighbouring country of Singapore, have a glimpse:

You can't even see a shit! BTW, where's sunlight? Isn't it the same sight as the movie "Armageddon"?
Some flights are cancelled, hundreds of schools closed down, businesses stopped or delayed, health deteriorated, you name it.
The fun thing is, the Indons government said sorry and request for help to cut off the burning in its own country. Jakarta enjoys bright sunligh everyday, did not even have any idea how tough it is in Kuala Lumpur.
The main page of Jakarta Post reports the latest political developments of some parties and the murder of a human rights campaigner, as well as the discouragement of students entering private universities by some Indon states. The issue of fogging forest is merely a critism of environmentalists, an issue as minute as a piece of dead ant.
From my opinion, as a lay person, I think God knew the Indon Sumaterans would uncivilisedly burning His forests, so He created a 3 storey high tsunami to cover up all the fires burning as well as "the uncivilised" to its grave on December 26, but miscalculated or mispredicted the date. If there is a forest fire, wouldn't it be good if there's a tsunami to cover it up?
But fair enough, man who causes the fire, man who sufferred the destruction and man who cleans up the mess. What matter is, which kind of man? The devils will always be enjoying starting the fire, and the angels will be there to put off the fire. Glad that the world is still equal in some manner.
