An Island of Beauty Trip 26th Aug - 30th Aug 2005

Tioman Island, a renowned island in Malaysia for years and years, but it was my first time stepping on its soil after 24 years staying in Malaysia. Yup, travel by bus from Kuala Lumpur to Mersing (Johor state) in 5-6 hours, ended up like a zombie after reaching the Mersing Jetty. Once I was stepping down from the bus, a marketing officer from one of the many speedboat charter companies approached us for transportation service from mainland to the island. I had no worries for the transportation at all. I paid RM140 for 2 persons, to and fro by speedboat transport, which lasted an hour plus per journey.

After reaching Tekek jetty, we travelled by Berjaya mini bus to Berjaya Resort, about 7 minutes away from the jetty, FOC. So we got down from the bus in the resort at 9 plus in the morning, being the last one who got down with a bunch of other tourists and therefore we checked in being the last. The effect of it: no king size bed rooms for us, but left only two single bed rooms and we still have to wait for it to be cleaned up by 1 pm. So we were given a complimentary fruit punch for the wait but the Cafe which serves it has yet to open. The lesson I learnt here is not to be so nice to foreigners to give them way out from the bus first, and I am the last one to get down and check in.

We then had lunch at other cafe and we had burgers at RM6 each. Kuala Lumpur is selling half the price dude! We also had mee rebus (steam mee) at RM8. The prices are terribly joking us, but still, we had to cure our hunger. Then I noticed alot of foreigners with bikinis around the resort, amazing:

Spotted one from the burger stall

Is Tioman a bikini haven?

Yes, it is confirmed. Almost 100% of foreigners came here to sun bath. Even Asians like Japanese and locals wear bikinis too

So girls, next time if you are going to Tioman Island, pack up your favourite bikinis before you go, or else, you will end up like her:

Lonely and sad..... =o( hehehhe

The sceneries that I think are "kewl":

Steamboat arena, RM48 per pax, not buffet

The chalets

Our chalet, Room 469

Inside Room 469

The beach and some chalets

The beach

The chick, at sunset

The jetty

So what can we do there?

Or, come to play with the nature:

The donkey ranch

The river of crocs, nah they are just some kind of lizards

Things are sold at highly quoted prices, especially foods and beverages. But, there were beers selling at RM3 for a can in duty free shops! The point is: don't eat, just drink till your very last day on the island. =o)
